What is Direct Primary Care?

According to the American Academy of Family Physicians, “DPC benefits patients by
providing substantial savings and a greater degree of access to, and time with, physicians. DPC allows family physicians to care for the whole person while reducing the overhead and negative incentives associated with fee-for-service third-party-payer billing.”
Here at Backcountry Doctor DPC we offer extended appointments instead of the hurried 10-15 min you typically spend with your doctor. This allows us to spend the appropriate time with you in order to cover complex medical issues and personalize your experience.
We do not accept insurance or Medicare/Medicaid which allows us more freedom in the treatment of our patients, rather than being constrained by their guidelines and formularies.
We recommend that you combine your subscription to our service with a high deductible insurance policy or join one of the Christian Medical share organizations to cover emergencies and less commonly utilized specialized services not provided by DPC practices.
With the DPC model your insurance is used for what it is intended to cover: catastrophic health events, hospitalizations, specialist care, surgery, and imaging. Your insurance can be used to cover medications and labs as well.
